Is it a sign of the coming inevitable? Apocalypse or just another cash-grabbing Artist trying to get some of that good Christmas Gravy, Cher has released a Christmas album called, obviously, Christmas. Yeah, a lot of thought went into that title. Don't let the snarkiness fool you--I actually LIKE Cher (although I'd hardly call myself a fan) but Christmas isn't the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of her. Still, she did a thing and I was curious. (I also had some extra $$$ left over from a Gift Card so I took the plunge. I was, unexpectedly but pleasantly, surprised! This album has something for EVERY Cher fan whether you are from her "Believe" era or are more of a fan of "classic" Cher. It begins with "DJ Play a Christmas Song" taking all the energy and vocal tweaking of *Believe* and puts it into a Holiday song that will catch you singing along or humming the tune at the strangest times! Most of the rest of the album sticks to less vocal trickery but keeps the energy pumping to older (purely secular) Christmas song. If you are expecting Cher to put the "Christ" in "Christmas", you will be sadly disappointed. There are several songs that need to be noted in the review: "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" a duet with the original artist Darlene Love borrows A LOT from the original but I didn't mind it. "Home", a duet with Michael Bublé, is one of the slower songs on the album but it has a sweet sadness that I didn't expect from this album. Cher and Bublé blend well together (which I didn't expect) and I found myself getting a little misty by the end of the song. Cher's version of "Santa Baby" can't touch Eartha Kitt's 1954 version, but she's done a better job than any of today's contemporary "Pop Tarts" and those gals (not to mention Michael Bublé) could learn a thing or two from the old girl "Put a Little Holiday in your Heart" is the Cher duet you didn't know you needed until you heard it. With the exception of "I Like Christmas", the other original songs on the album are utterly forgettable. (I was forgetting them even as they played.) Is the album great? Hardly!! It IS, however, a fun slice of Christmas ham that's guaranteed to get the party started! Next year you'll probably forget you even HAVE this album--but this year, the high-energy, relentlessly-cheery, album is destined to kick your Holiday Party into high gear!

Loved side A of the record (not to mention the great red color!). Side B wouldn't play. Kept skipping. Bought a new cleaning kit but didn't help. Decided to just put record in a frame (because it's Cher!), and just get the CD instead.

I buy a different style (Country, R & R, gospel, jazz, etc.) Christmas CD every year and, this year was Cher. I had heard a sneak preview and liked what I heard. I was pleasantly surprised I liked it more than I thought I would! The songs on the CD are not your usual Christmas songs which I really like. Her voice sounds great and I l love her duet "Home" with Michael Buble (beautiful if you ask me). Very happy to add Cher to my Christmas CD collection!

It's Cher, so it's amazing! The songs have a Christmas feel without it being yet another regurgitation of the same old songs we hear every year. A fresh take on a couple of familiar songs, but mostly originals. Some very nice collaborations as well. Cher-ry Christmas!

I happen to love Cher. But even if you don’t, you will love this Cd. It is full of original songs that will make you want to get up and dance. She has done some really great collaborations on this album with Stevie Wonder, Cyndi Lauper and Michael Buble’ among others. The song Dj play this Christmas song is sure to be a yearly Christmas tradition. I have played this album every day since i got it, it’s a definite mood lifter.

Love Cher's Christmas album. Awesome music, love all original songs and excellent collaboration. Cher's versions of known Christmas songs totally Cher's own. Santa Baby sounds naughty. Haha. Playing on repeat a must for me.

It's great. Every track is great. You should buy it. If you are a Cher fan, or even if you are not (but who isn't), you will love it. Buy two, give one to a friend. They will thank you.
