> Cherished by some, still a hidden treasure

After a seven year hiatus Dr. Dre returned with ‘2001’ the followup to his debut album, ‘The Chronic.’ In the interim between the two monumental projects, Dr. Dre assembled an allstar cast of rap superstars including, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Nate Dogg, and Xzibit who would assist in executing his vision on one of the most flawless albums in hip hop history. Dr. Dre’s production reached a mythical tier on songs like, “Still D.R.E”, “The Next Episode”, and “Forgot About Dre”, all of which contributed to the album going six times platinum. ‘2001’ is being reissued on standard 2lp vinyl.

Exactly what I was looking for!

This album is just as excellent as Dr. Dre's first album The chronic. Once again his beats and rapping is awesome. I will explain what my opinion of each track one by one and tell you How many stars I'd Give each one out of five. 1. Lolo Intro - The introduction to the album. A skit at that skippable because I normally don't like skits. 2. The Watcher - This is an excellent opening song for the album that really gives you a great idea of what the tone of the album is. It has a great beat, intersting lyrics, a cool chours and the usual great rapping from Dre. 5 stars. 3. **** You - I am not really that fond of this track. I do like the beat a lot but I hate the way the chours is sung and this song has very uninteresting lyrics. The good beat cannot save this track. 2 stars 4. Still D.R.E. - An excellent track where Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg each come at full force and spit interesting lyrics about how they are the same way they were back in the early 1990s over an excellent beat to fit with all the rapping perfectly. 5 stars. 5. Big Egos - Another excellent track with a great beat, great rapping and a beautifully sung chours. 5 stars. 6. XXplosive - Another excellent track with a great guitar riff for the beat that makes it have a cool Rock n Roll sound to it. It also has great rapping and some beatiful tuneful singing by Nate Dogg. 5 Stars. 7. What's The Difference - Another excellent track with an interesting unique horn laced beat, Great rapping by Dr. Dre, Xzibit and Eminem, and interesting lyrics where Dr. Dre details his feelings towards his former N.W.A. Bandmates. 5 stars. 8. Bar One - A skit so I don't bother to give it a rating. 9. Light Speed - A cool track with a cool beat, great rapping and a well done chours that really sounds cool. 4.5 stars. 10. Forgot About Dre - An Excellent track with a fun bouncy beat where Dr. Dre speaks of how he deserves respect for all the contributions he's made to the rap music world. An Eminem being featured on it makes it even better. 5 stars. 11. The Next Episode - Another great track with just what I always expect from Dre a great beat, great rapping and a catchy chours. 5 stars. 12. Let's get High - a pretty good track with a cool beat but the rapping is not quite as good as in the other songs on the album but it's still good. 3.5 stars. 13. B***h N***az - A not so great track. the beat is not good like his other songs and the rapping is not good as usual. 2 stars. 14. The Car Bomb - A dramatic skit about a car bomb explosion in a car. I like this skit better than the other ones because of it's dramatic content. 15. Murder Ink. An Ok track but not one of my favorites. The beat is not quite as good as most of the beats on this album but it's still pretty good and Dre is not here to make the track excellent 3.5 stars. 16. Education - a plain old skippable skit. 17. Some L.A N***as - An ok track but not one of my faves on the album. 3 stars. 18. Pause 4 **** Skippable skit. 19. Housewife - A great track with great rapping and beats.5 stars. 20. Ackrite. A cool track with a cool bassline for the beat. 4 stars. 21. Bang Bang A great track with cool rapping, a great beat and intersting sound effects for the chours. 4.5 stars. 22. The Message - A great track honoring his late brother Tyree with a great mellow harp for the beat. 5 stars.

Did better than expectations. I only bought it for the one song that was on it the next episode And was pleasantly surprised to find out that the other songs weren’t bad I have no idea what my thought process was. Love it.

I have wanted this record for a long time but I've always been scared to order it since its been widely reported that even the so called "explicit" version is actually the edited version. Even many reviews here on Amazon complained they got one of the defective versions. I took a chance, as many of the newer reviews said theirs was unedited. I'm glad I did, mine came and it is indeed the explicit version! Sounds good!

Yep, 71 yrs old and I am loving this CD. I bought it yrs ago and it must have annoyed me bc I didn’t listen to it again until today. It’s packed with songs by other great rappers like Eminem and Snoop Dog. Ok, I don’t really like the vulgar words but I gotta say it’s a soothing work of art. So go for it! I certainly wish I had not ignored it for so long
