> Cherished by some, still a hidden treasure

Experience the revolutionary fourth studio album, 'Stankonia', by the renowned American hip hop duo, OutKast. Released on October 31, 2000, this album builds on the success of their previous release, 'Aquemini', which brought Southern hip-hop to the forefront. 'Stankonia' was crafted in OutKast's own Atlanta recording facility, Stankonia Studios, allowing for limitless creativity and musical experimentation. The album features a diverse mix of musical genres, from drum and bass to gospel, rock, salsa, funk, and psychedelia, creating a unique, chaotic musical aesthetic. With guest appearances from local Atlanta musicians, 'Stankonia' is a true representation of the city's vibrant music scene. The album's lyrics touch on a variety of topics, from politics to personal introspection, all delivered with OutKast's signature irreverence. Debuting at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, 'Stankonia' sold over 530,000 copies in its first week and received universal acclaim, holding a score of 95 out of 100 on Metacritic. The album spawned three hit singles, 'B.O.B', 'Ms. Jackson', and 'So Fresh, So Clean', with 'Ms. Jackson' becoming the group's first number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Winner of Best Rap Album for 'Stankonia' and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for 'Ms. Jackson' at the 2002 Grammy Awards, this album is a must-have for any hip hop fan. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked 'Stankonia' number 359 on their list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

There are few words to describe this album other than the obvious: a bonifide stank symphony. It's lavishly spottieottiedopaliscious, but somehow manages to have that raunchy stank only growing up in the mighty paradise known as the ATL can imbue in a man. Being a connoisseur of all things fresh, clean, AND stankaliscious I can tell you that all three of these traits are seldom found in the same artist, let alone the same album and often the same song. It is a remarkable feat only ever executed by masters of a craft. While the cursing is unnecessary in most portions and some of the stank is a little forced by extraneous explicitness (some things are best left to the imagination) it is truly a wonderful album; a perfect example of OutKast's execution of esoteric Xtrafunky ecstasy. You couldn't make a gem like this again if you put Sasquatch sweat excreted in a Georgia summer, Parliament, and 3 Bootsy Collins in the center of the earth for 30 billion years. Enjoy.

OUTKAST!!! THAT KAST!!!!! THEM ATL BOYZ!!!! This was the first OUTKAST CD'S I bought when cd's were all the rave back in early 2002 before the Nazpter, Music Industry meltdown!!!!!!It got scratched From start to finish all my favorite songs are on this CD! Gasoline Dreams, Ms. Jackson, SoFresh so, Clean, I'll call before I'll come. I even like the guess cameos from B-Real of Cypress Hill, Gansta Boo, Eryka Badu Goodie Mob and others. One thing I hated the were there are too many interludes they take up most of the album! There is nothing to hate about Outkast! Everyone said they went too Pop or R&B, Commercial or they can't not be slept on go get this cd for your collection!

Great cd
I know I complained about The College Dropout lasting over an hour and being peppered with pointless skits, thought the same issues didn't bother me as much with Stankonia for some reason. Not to say the album is better, although I think I liked it a little more. OutKast is a bit different, more experimental and weird than most other successful hip hop acts. There are a lot of guests on the record, though they rarely outperform the main members of the group, Big Boi and Andre 3000. They sound pretty similar, although the content of their lyrics tends to differ, and Big Boi raps faster while Andre is more playful and enunciates more. He also tends to be the one singing the choruses, which are routinely damn catchy for what is otherwise not a terribly mainstream sound. The singles are solid, with "Ms. Jackson" being endlessly hummable and "B.O.B." having an eerily prescient chorus sung by a choir and just about everything but the kitchen sink thrown in somewhere. Most of the interludes are brief and to the point, and serve as breathers between chunks of music instead of being distracting. Some of the additional performers are recognizable, with Cee-Lo having an unusual verse in his own style on "Slum Beautiful" and B-Real from Cypress Hill on "Xplosion", but in general the guests feel natural instead of being shoehorned in to grab attention and a few extra sales, especially since I haven't heard most of them. The album in general is an unusual mix of memorable production, catchy hooks, and technical proficiency, creating a sound that has few holes in it and is pretty fun to listen to throughout. The overlong self-titled closer drags a bit but that might be my only significant issue. Pretty solid.

You asked if Stankonia met my needs - Seriously, do even have to ask that? Do bears crap in the woods? This album is gold and one of my favorites from OutKast. Please for the love of all things holy, buy this record and make your mother listen to it. I’m a mom so that makes it mom approved.

CD was in good shape un opened , every cd I've bought on amazon has had a crack in the case but its brand new inside . No scratches still in original wrapper and everything. Also a sneaky good album.
