This is by far the best smart vac i have every used. I am a big fan because with three dogs this vacuum saves me a lot of time and energy trying to clean up their hair and dirt they track around the house on a daily basis. This is the first one i have used that has gone from being a supplemental cleaning device to almost being the primary one. It does such a good job getting close to the baseboards with its square design. It is able to suck up all of the dirt, and fuzz bunnies that build up there. Surprisingly the rubber roller on the bottom is an excellent upgrade and hairs don't get tangled up like the older bristle ones do. In terms of regular maintenance - this was a big improvement in my perspective. I love how diligent and hard working it is in regards to mopping. It somehow senses how dirty the pads are and will go back to the station as many times as needed to clean up the pads with hot water and send it back out to continue on until it finishes. When done mopping, there is nothing needed from me, the mop heads raise up and it will head out onto the carpet to start vacuuming. In terms of a set it and forget it, AI driven, home cleaning, automation device this one goes further than i expected. All that is required of me is the keep the clean water tank full, the dirty water tank empty, the vacuum bag empty, and set a schedule in the app for regular cleanings. From there it pretty much manages itself. Sure, it might occasionally get stuck and need some help but i have found that when it happens its a pretty unique and complex scenario. For the most part this one handles normal obstacles better than other I have tried. It also hasn't fallen victim to the terrible dog poo dilemma that i have unfortunately faced in others. This is a huge deal for me and never want to go through that again. This vacuum is a winner in my book and is doing a great job helping this busy Momma keep her house as clean as can be.

I have owned the X1 and just upgraded to the X2 and love both. However, if you live outside of the continental US you can not order anything from Ecovacs. They refuse to ship to Hawaii or Alaska no matter what. They won't even let you pay for shipping. This is unacceptable for a product that costs $1,500! I have never seen a large company that won't sell you supplies for their product. Hawaii gets parcels every day from USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. We are not a foreign country! Get your act together EcoVacs!

Short review now; Perhaps longer update later. This replaced a Roomba i7+ in our home with 6 dogs on a horse farm. The roomba did fine, except for it's aging parts, weakness to its own dust, and iRobot's app updates becoming a headache. It handled dog hair just fine too. What it couldn't do was clean up the paw or boot prints on our vinyl plank flooring during the winter or wet weather. Enter the X2; Having a self-filling and cleaning mopping robot has changed our lives for the better, and I can walk barefoot in the house again. That alone is almost worth the price alone, and does outweigh some of the criticisms I have. It's not all sunshine and roses. The app is clunky, needs to be refreshed often, and mapping the house took 4 tries. It will occasionally make up a new room in between two existing rooms, and the app will then not let you merge them back or edit them. You can subdivide floor areas, but not edit the walls that the LiDAR maps. It will not allow you to name rooms, you pick from a list that is missing many standard American room names. There is "Study" but not "Office", "Cloakroom" but not "Closet". "Sunroom" but not "Foyer", and I guess I need to renovate so I can make use of "Tatami"; It isn't unusable by any means but it shows that the app has not been fully localized to a western market. Yiko, the voice assistant, is a nice addition with caveats; It does not always recognize room names and I don't have a good sense of where my data is, especially when the voice data can be interlaced with LiDAR, camera, and usage data. I would consider disabling the voice assistant. Previously I isolated the Roomba on my network and tried to control and curtail it's network activity, I have not tried that yet with the X2. There is some documentation suggesting it can work with Home Assistant, and it looks to be usable with the big market assistants (though I do not use them) but not IFTTT. The most frustrating thing about the robot, that almost got me to return it was that it absolutely cannot handle dog hair. Multiple times a day, once in the few minutes while I was writing this review, it throws an error for "Main Brush Tangled". This could mean it ingested something it shouldn't have, like a piece of paper, but mostly it means the bearings which the main brush turns in has become packed with dog hair. Those bearings also get very hot as they're simple plastic parts rubbing against a metal rod and not a true roller bearing. It looks like the side brush is directing all of the debris is gets directly into that bearing and not the brush itself, but I'm not an engineer. I do think the main brush/side brush could use a redesign on that account. Turning up vacuum suction power hasn't had an appreciable effect, and makes it louder and reduces runtime. The solution for the owner, I guess, is to have it run more regularly so it interacts with less hair each run, vacuum manually more often, or accept it and clean it's brush twice a day. Or get rid of the dogs or the robot or both. I'm waiting on aftermarket support for the consumables (Bags, Brushes, Filters) and to learn what off-brand cleaning solutions could be used in the mop water. The manual drive mode on the vacuum is more fun than I thought it would be, and when traveling we have used to to check up on the dogs. It's a shame we cannot use that to help map the house and define rooms. Overall the upgrade from the i7+ is worth it on the basis of mopping. Vacuum performance is fine, not accounting for the issues with hair. Everything else is a bit of a gimmick

Pros: Set up was fairly simply Mapping was quick and easy Charging time seemed to be pretty fast It does know when on carpet It's quick to get back to home base It doesn't hit objects very hard It doesn't just run over everything in its path Cons: It starts cleaning on perimeter only It doesn't clean in a section Cleans randomly only It got stuck cleaning the dining room for over half hour The only real gripe I have is that it doesn't have a uniform way of cleaning. Seems like it only cleans randomly.
