Received the glass little big mouth bubbler and contents to make the IPA. Unfortunately when filling the bubbler with HOT tap water (per the directions), it cracked. Given this is a glass item, this stuff happens, but was disappointing. What was NOT disappointing was the excellent customer service I received when I contacted the seller. They responded back to me promptly and replaced the glass bubbler with a plastic one. Further they provided me with additional hops content as we had started the process (not sure how the original one will come out given I only had a 5 gallon bucket handy for 1 gallon of beer!). I am very pleased with the courteous tone, the quick response, and the fact that this company went above and beyond what I was hoping for. I would recommend this kit (with the plastic bubbler) to anyone. The directions are easy, and it was really a fun process!
Bought american wheat 1 gallon kit. Everything else worked except the yeast seems to have died after soaking in sanitizing solution (used HOT water from tap to prep the solution, as given in the instructions). Didn't see anything bubbling even after two days of fermentation. Racking cane was kind of stiff to operate with the provided vinyl tubing too short to reach and stay inside the fermenter (needed a second person to hold the tube end down in the bottle). Beer brewing ain't easy. Still, a good tarting kit. Fixing problems like these could make this product even better

It tasted like a lot of IPA brands on the market BUT with the difference being you MAKE IT YOURSELF. It was a nice experience. It made me appreciate beers a whole ton more. The instructions might be a lil confusing but leave enough room for some mistake. even with a few mistakes on my end i still ended up with great tasting beer. I do not know the alcohol content at the end but I do know it turned out great. Sharing it with friends and family was also fun.

I had signed up to take a beer making class, but when the class was cancelled, I still wanted to try something on my own. This kit turned out to be a perfect introduction to brewing. The directions were very easy to follow, and the finished product was pretty respectable for a first try. I'm happy with it anyway. I have to agree with the other reviewers that the siphon sucks, but in the bad sort of way, not the literal way. I ended up buying a new siphon in between the brewing and the bottling process to avoid having to use the included one a second time. Even with that problem, I thought the kit was a great introduction to the brewing process.

I have been considering trying my hand at home brewing for a while now since I LOVE craft beers. After looking through all of the starter kit options I decided to give small batch brewing a try. This kit contains everything needed to brew 1 gallon of beer, except the bottles. Here are some great features to this kit: 1. The kit includes everything needed to brew your own beer. 2. The price is awesome for anyone who is unsure whether they want to try their hand at brewing or not. Also very reasonable price for a gift. 3. Pick your style of beer. There are several options, and the selection of small batch recipe kits offered by Northern Brewer is ASTOUNDING! 4. Easy to follow instructions AND a DVDs guide. Seriously, if you can make Mac 'N Cheese you can brew your first batch of beer. So, look no further if you are considering home brewing. This is a purchase you will not regret!
I bought this as a gift for my husband and he’s OBSESSED! He’s already made the recipe included and is researching more recipes for his next batch. He was super impressed that it came with so much in the kit, we literally didn’t need to buy anything else. (Our popcorn maker was the perfect size pot lol!) The siphon was cracked (it still did the job) so he messaged customer service and within a day they had a new one shipped out. We were so impressed with it all!!! I can’t say how good the beer is yet, but will update once he tries that first sip! If you’ve been endlessly researching different kits like I did, stop right now and buy this one!!!

I bought this with some trepidation about whether I could really make beer that was good. I've cooked for years and always follow new recipes exactly the first time. So I approached this the same way and followed the instructions exactly. After I put the beer in the fermenter I wasn't really sure what to expect. It started bubbling the 2nd day and a large foam formed on top of the liquid. After a week the bubbling had completely stopped the foam subsided. I had the fermenter in a cabinet in my basement which was around 68F. The next week there wasn't much to see as it lay looking dormant. At 2 weeks I bottled the beer. A week and a half later I tried one of the beers and it tasted great with a good head on the beer. It tasted to me very similar to Big Sky's Moose Drool. I will definitely be making more beers. Norther Brewer's kit was great. I made sure to tighten the spigot and test it for leaks. I had to put quite a bit of pressure to get it tight enough. I did mess up a couple of bottle caps before I got the feel and now it's pretty easy. I highly recommend this.
The lid for the fermenter doesn't create an airtight seal so this is pretty much useless. Also the hole for the stopper is flimsy and the stopper pushes right through the hole. Contacted northern brewer and they refused to help. Thankfully Amazon is correcting the situation.
