My kids (11 and 8) really loved the first one, and we definitely laughed out loud reading it as a family. Usually, reading graphic novels is a chore, but the wife and I were actively awaiting this book. I guess the real question was if the magic would continue. I'm happy to say it didn't dissapoint. I think we laughed even harder this time around. The characters have really started to shine and the story was interesting all the way through. First Cat has so much personality in so little words. We read a lot of books as a family and this series has hands down become one of our favorites. Like the first book, the illustrations were absolutely incredible. While the story was amazing, the drawing style really sets the series apart from the crowd of children's literature. This is a great book in what is becoming a solid series. It's a great stepping stone after the Dogman series, and I can easily recommend it for slightly older kids (and honestly, for parents too).

After successfully saving the moon once, the Queen of the Moon is having a big feast, but her soup doesn't taste quite right. She realizes that it's been poisoned and someone is out to depose her monarchy. She calls upon the only heroes she can trust, and while the First Cat in Space is ready and willing, Loz 4000 had a bad experience and is hiding away in a glumpfoozle orchard. The plot twists as old rivals reappear and unexpected characters pop up in strange places. But if the Queen can't find the cure in time, the moon may just end up in the hands of Bernice! This book is a whole tangle of silliness, overdramatics, and puns, making it the perfect light read for anyone who doesn't take things too seriously. I loved every page and can't wait for more in this series. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

My 3 and 5 yr old grandchildren absolutely love it
‘The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom’ by Mac Barnett with illustrations by Shawn Harris is the second volume in the crazy comic series for kids. When the Moon Queen is poisoned by soup, it’s up to First Cat to help save her. Along the way, and lots of sidebar action like falling pianos, musicals, backstories by secondary characters and a betrayal plot. Will the Moon Queen be saved and can things get even crazier than last time? This is a funny story, like the first volume. I wasn’t sure how a sequel would be, but it didn’t disappoint. Young readers should love this series.

This is a super-fun sequel to The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza - more moon shenanigans, more chaotic fun! I loved the mystery in this one of who poisoned the Moon Queen, and the storytelling is absolutely top-notch. LOZ-4000 returns as the reluctant hero, but I will not spoil the identity of the villain! I loved this one as much - and maybe even more - than the first book!

My 10-year-old daughter is obsessed with this series! She randomly found the first one at the library and then we had to pre-order this one so she could read it right when it came out!

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollinsPublishers for my ARC! The First Cat in Space series is an absolute blast—both first and second books do not disappoint. From crazy goofy characters, daring dastardly plots full of adventure, to fun illustrations—Barnett and Harris are the perfect team! These books are perfect for reluctant readers, fans of Dog Man, or those who just love to laugh—The First Cat in Space will be a favorite for many, young and old. In book 2, the Queen is poisoned, thus our hero, First Cat, must take the Queen on a journey to save her life! Along the way we meet new characters and run into old friends. Will our heroes find the cure in time?
